Health Act Compliance

Ecowater Services are a Health Department approved Aerobic Treatment Unit Service Provider Company which operates in accordance with all of the set out Regulations and Guidelines outlined in the Health Act, Regulations and the appropriate Code of Conduct. 

W.A. Health Act (Treatment of Sewage and Disposal of Effluent and Liquid Waste)
Regulations 1974 Part 4A – Maintenance of Aerobic Treatment units, states that:-



• 42A Owner to ensure arrangements in place for maintenance of unit;
• 42B Units to be maintained in accordance with standard;
• 42C Maintenance of units to be carried out by authorised persons;
• 42D Authorised person to notify new owner of maintenance requirements for units;
• 54 OFFENCE
  A person who contravenes these regulations commits an offence.  Penalties apply.

AND

Department of Health Code of Practice for the Design Manufacture Installation and Operation
of ATUs Servicing Single Dwellings Part 2:

• 8 Maintenance
• “The owner of a premises where an ATU is installed must ensure that at all times satisfactory arrangements are in place for the maintenance of the ATU by an authorised person as required by Regulation 42A (1) of the Regulations.”
•  8 (b) Maintenance Requirements
• “Maintenance of an ATU shall be carried out at intervals of not more than 3 months between each maintenance service.”

Under Health Department Regulations 42D, the current service provider must be notified when the property has sold.  This is purely for the purpose of maintaining the legal requirement for the ongoing servicing of an ATU.
